Digby Nova Scotia is my hometown. It’s where I grew up and even though I no longer live there, my family remains and so I visit every year. It’s a beautiful place to visit in the summer and fall, which is considered peak season and the best time to go. There’s a variety of festivals that happen throughout the summer from Scallop Days in the beginning of August, where you can see the famous Digby scallop fleet and wharf rat rally around labor day, a huge motorcycle rally that draws thousands of bikers from around North America.

Getting there is easy, but knowing where to stay can be a challenge. There are a range of accommodation options with a variety of amenities, depending on what you are looking for. You can stay at a waterfront hotel, in the centre of Digby, making everything a short distance away or you can stay a short drive away, close to the ferry terminal and the Digby Pines golf course.

Below are the best Digby hotels to help make your overall experience visiting this small fishing town a great one.

Admiral Digby Inn

Address: 441 Shore Rd, Digby, NS B0V 1A0, Canada

This hotel is located on Shore road, close to the ferry terminal to St. John, New Brunswick. If you are driving up from the US, through Maine, this is one way to get into Digby. The hotel itself has been around forever and is across from unobstructed views of the water. It’s much quieter here with only residential houses around and is a short drive (less than 5 minutes) to downtown Digby. Parking in Digby is generally pretty easy and is free, so if you have a car, it’s actually not that big of a deal to stay a little outside of town. Unless you plan to have too many drinks, then you may need to plan for that.

best hotel outside of downtown Digby

Admiral Digby Inn restaurant is also a part of the ownership, but is located downtown at the turnaround (what locals call the idiot loop because people will just drive around town and loop around for hours just for something to do). The food there is great and you will get a lot of fresh seafood.

Breakfast is available but not free, parking is free, and it is pet friendly. You will pay around $100 US per night, which is pretty reasonable for hotels these days. Most guests rave about the friendly staff, which always makes a stay better.

The Digby visitor centre is also located a few doors down, so you can get all the insights on places to visit during your stay.

Seawinds motel

Address: 90 Montague Row, Digby, NS B0V 1A0, Canada

This is the perfect place if you want to be right downtown and on the water. It is just on the edges of the main downtown area, so a little quieter, but just a short walk from the main shops and restaurants. They also have some cozy cottages to choose from if you are looking for something a bit more private. Nightly price with fees is around $80 US, which is a great deal.

They offer free wifi and parking and it is also pet friendly. They do have a complimentary breakfast, but it is a basic continental breakfast.

Shoreline suites

Address: 78 Water St, Digby, NS B0V 1A0, Canada

budget friendly waterfront hotel Digby

Another waterfront hotel, this one has a great restaurant and gift shop attached and the room rate is also very reasonable at around $80 US. There is also free internet and it is pet friendly. They have a continental breakfast in your room included, which is a nice touch and the hotel is located right across from the wharf where the scallop boats dock and is very picturesque. It’s also a great place to watch the change in the tides, since the Bay of Fundy has some of the highest tides in the world. The difference is pretty shocking when you see it.

Digby pines golf resort and spa

Address: 103 Shore Rd, Digby, NS B0V 1A0, Canada

One of the many 4-star hotels in Digby, but probably the most iconic. This was always considered the fanciest hotel in Digby when I was growing up. They have this amazing Sunday brunch that people rave about and locals go for special occasions to. There is a range of amenities here, with an in ground, outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and of course the golf course. It is considered one of the best hotels in Digby and the price reflects that, though it is still not unreasonable at around $130 US a night.

They also have some different events, like a New Year’s Eve party and themed dinner theatre. They do have free wifi and parking and dogs and cats are allowed in their onsite cottages.

Bayside Inn

Address: 115 Montague Row, Digby, NS B0V 1A0, Canada

A very short walk to the main downtown shops and restaurants, this cute little inn offers free breakfast (a full, home cooked breakfast at that), free wifi and free parking. It is also right across the road from the water with great unobstructed views. Cost is around $70 a night and it gets 4.8/5 ratings, making it one of the highest visitor rated stays in Digby.

They do not allow pets here, so keep that in mind if you are planning to travel with your pooch.

Dockside suites hotel

Address: 34 Water St, Digby, NS B0V 1A0, Canada

Part of the Fundy Complex, which includes the dockside suites, Club 98 (I used to work here when I was home from college in the summer), the Fundy Restaurant and the Dockside restaurant. This is the only 5-star hotel in town and one of the few luxury hotels. They offer waterfront rooms with comfortable beds as well as comfortable rooms in general and have free parking. It has all you need in one spot include Dockside Whale Watching (a popular thing to do in this area) and is a great place to stay that is right in the middle of all the action.

Best luxury hotel in Digby Nova Scotia

There is free wifi here as well and they allow 2 pets of any size is designated rooms for an additional $25 CAD per pet, per night. The average cost per night is $224, the most expensive spot in town. I guess that’s what you pay for luxury.

all in one hotel stay

Concluding Thoughts

The town of Digby has a lot of great options for places to stay during your visit. Keep in mind you will need to book in advance if you plan to come during some of the towns biggest festivals, but overall it’s a quiet town with that maritime charm that everyone loves.
