It’s that time of the year again! That time when you are anxiously trying to figure out what to get the adventure traveler in your family. Well don’t worry. I’ve got you.

This post will give you all the ideas you will ever need for your adventure traveler.

Noise cancelling headphones

For those long-haul flights or noisy hostels you need a good pair of headphones. You need Sony’s headphones. The Sony WH1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-ear headphones to be exact.

These babies have some pretty incredible features. They’re lightweight, are fairly compact for an over-the-ear headphone and come with a case that also includes a plugin for airplanes.

When you turn them on you immediately notice some of the noise cancelling features and there are options in their app that will help improve your experience. If you have music playing from Apple Music (that’s what I use and love) you can completely tune out from the world.

And those masks that we need to wear while flying these days? You can put the straps right on the headphones saving your ears from the pain of having those straps dig into the back of your ear during the flight.

These headphones, I kid you not, are totally worth the price.

Portable charging station

If you are heading out on a multiday hike or a backcountry adventure or even a secluded safari you need your phone to take all those incredible photos, to let friends and family know your ok and in case of an emergency. You can’t have it run out of juice on the first day!

You need a charging station.

The INIU Portable Charger wins hands down if you need something that is lightweight, small, and you don’t need more than a couple charges.

It’s also a good price at around $15.

At 7 ounces, this is the perfect choice if you are trekking, and weight is at a premium. There are USB-A ports and one USB-C and perfect for charging your phone.

The downside is you can only get about 2 full phone charges before you need to charge your charger. But at that price if you really needed to you could just get 2!

Headlamp

One of the things that I think should always be in your pack is a good headlamp.

It has come in handy as I tried to reach my mountain hut and darkness came before I arrived. It also came in handy when I was staying at a safari camp in Uganda and there were no lights guiding me back to my room from the restaurant.

A good headlamp could quite literally save your life. My preference are the Black Diamond headlamps. Mine has various settings, the battery lasts forever, and it actually fits my head.

Kindle Oasis

I always thought I was a book in my hands only kind of girl. One I got my first kindle I was converted. Now I have the Kindle Oasis and I couldn’t be happier.

It had a backlight that has a yellow tint so it’s easier on the eyes when you’re reading in your tent at night. The battery life is great, you can resize the words and I highly recommend you also get Kindle Unlimited for $10/month.

One of my favorite features are the buttons to change the pages. I actually find I prefer it to the thumb swipe.

Face masks

With the ongoing COVID19 health crisis it is important that we are able to stay safe while we travel. For flights you cannot use a cloth mask, so making sure they have a good disposable KN95 face mask option is important. For other times, having some fun, travel related cloth masks are just a nice touch.

Sterilizing water bottle

My new favorite water bottle is the CrazyCap purification bottle. A stainless-steel bottle, the cap has a built in UV light that with one tap gives you a basic sterilization or a double tap causes it to go into “crazy mode” with a longer sterilization time.

One of the perks is you no longer get that gross smell to your water bottle as it does a short sterilization cycle every 4 hours. The downsides are the cost and the size (I wish it was a bit bigger to hold more water).

GoPro Hero 8

For the hiker, mountain climber, snowboarder, snorkeler in your family they need the perfect way to capture their epic adventures. A GoPro Hero 8 will be the perfect companion as they race through Portal in Moab on their mountain bikes or summits the highest peak in Europe.

The charge on the batteries are probably the biggest limiting factor, but honestly it’s pretty good. If you are taking a lot of video in a day, you will need more than one battery.

If you take a lot of video, also consider getting a bigger memory card, so you don’t miss that epic run you did down the mountain or that time you went shark diving.

Scratch of map

I love my map. Being able to see just where I have been has been another way to remember my adventures. A Scratch The World ® Travel Map makes a great stocking stuffer!

Travel Journal

What a great way to reminisce over past adventures! I love spending a little time after an exciting day, reliving what happened by writing it into my travel journal.

You can also get a travel journal that are made by various women’s group and the money goes to supporting these women in various countries.

An adventure of a lifetime

All adventure travelers want is to go on another adventure, so why not help them do that. Simply Cuba has a number of adventure curated trips to choose from.

Head out on a snorkeling/scuba adventure and get amazing photos of the unique and beautiful aquatic wildlife that surrounds this stunning country. Or you can head into the forest and learn about the various bird species. Either way the photo opportunities are endless.

If you book now you can save an extra 400 dollars (AUD) using the code XMAS2021 (works for other countries outside of Australia as well). This code is valid for booking until July 2022!
